Roses offer enormous pleasure with flowers and fragrance for many months of the year. They have proven themselves to be drought tolerant and exceptionally hardy. They are so tough that even pruning is straight forward these days. Gone are the days of "scientific pruning"; just cut them hard and regularly for the best results in most cases. No other plants will provide such stunning fragrance. Grow them as shrubs with other plants, as standards, even as ground covers. Enjoy them in the garden or pick for indoors. Roses are available in an enormous range of colours and flower shapes. They are also easy to grow, so plant some today.
Remember too, that a potted rose in flower is the perfect gift. Add a ribbon and a card and you're sure to please. Written by Leigh Seibler
